Our Story

Bringing the resourcefulness, warmth, and forgotten flavors of historic kitchens back to modern tables.

Hi there, and welcome to The Unexpired Pantry!

I’ve always believed that food and history have something special in common—they both tell stories. This space is where my love for both comes together in a way that feels meaningful, nostalgic, and (hopefully!) delicious.

I earned my degree in History with a focus on history education, and sharing history has always been something I genuinely love. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to stories of the past—how people lived, what they valued, and yes… what they ate.

That love of stories started early. The library has been my favorite place since I was four years old. It was there that I first discovered the magic of learning, reading, and connecting with people and places through time.

At home, I grew up with homemade meals made from scratch. It wasn’t until I went to college that I realized not everyone had that same experience. That realization stuck with me—and shaped the way I wanted to create a home for my own family.

Now, I’m passionate about giving my kids that same experience: gathering in the kitchen, cooking from scratch, and creating memories around food. There’s something incredibly special about slowing down and making meals the way generations before us did.

My love for food and sharing recipes naturally grew alongside my love for history. This idea for The Unexpired Pantry actually came to life during a road trip conversation with my husband. We were talking about the things I love most—history and food—and wondered: what if we combined them?

So that’s what this space is all about.

Here, you’ll find recipes inspired by the past, stories behind the food we eat, and a celebration of both history and homemade meals. My hope is that you’ll not only find something delicious to make, but also feel a deeper connection to the stories that came before us.

Thanks for being here.
